OUR PRACTICE
Architecture is an ongoing process of listening, learning and making together.
Atelierium is a collaborative architecture practice that explores how people, knowledge, materials, and living systems can shape the places we create.
We understand architecture not as an isolated object, but as part of a wider network of relationships.
The practice brings together architectural design, construction experience, participatory processes, and material exploration. Each project begins by understanding its particular context, the people involved, the history of the place, its resources, and the ecological systems that sustain it.

Atelierium is led by architect Manuel Bolívar, whose practice spans more than two decades of architectural design, construction, project coordination, and education across Latin America.
His hands-on understanding of construction provides a technical foundation for the practice, while his work across diverse cultural and ecological contexts has progressively expanded his understanding of architecture beyond the building itself.
Atelierium builds on this experience while remaining open and collaborative—bringing together communities, craftspeople, researchers, specialists, and other architectural practices according to the needs of each project.

Learning through architecture and construction
The early years were dedicated to developing a strong technical foundation through architectural design, project development, construction, and work alongside Venezuelan architect Jesús Tenreiro.

2006 - 2013
Architecture beyond the building
Work gradually moved into more diverse territories and contexts, connecting architecture with landscape, culture, education, and local livelihoods.

2014 - 2020
Designing through relationships
Collaboration with communities, environmental organizations, and multidisciplinary teams expanded the design process to include participation, local knowledge, and ecological understanding.
